The MacArthur Foundation’s Safety and Justice Challenge seeks to reduce over-incarceration by changing the way America thinks about and uses jails.
As part of the search for fairer, more effective alternatives, the Safety and Justice Challenge supports a network of local jurisdictions committed to finding ways to safely reduce jail populations. The Center provides expert technical assistance to five of the selected jurisdictions: New York City, St. Louis County, Palm Beach County, Los Angeles, Charleston County, and Lucas County.
