PUNCH on Broadway

The 2025 hit Broadway play “Punch” from Olivier Award-winning writer James Graham brought the power of restorative justice to New York and beyond. Based on the true story of a tragic one-punch manslaughter, “Punch” offers an intimate look at a restorative justice process: where people who have caused harm, those who have been hurt, and the community come together to build a path forward. Experts from the Center joined its run on Broadway for a series of talkbacks on the nuances and applications of restorative justice work.

Project Reset—a program we operate in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, District Attorney’s Offices across New York City, and public defense organizations—diverts people with low-level arrests out of the justice system through restorative, community-based programming. Reset operates in a pre-court series of sessions with social workers, mental health counselors, and resource coordinators, while reducing risk of re-offense.
