Awilda Perez

Resource Coordinator

Awilda Perez was born and raised in New Jersey, spending weekends visiting family in the Bronx growing up. She received her B.A. in Criminal Justice and a triple minor in Sociology, Psychology, and Criminology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Awilda started her career interning at East Jersey State Prison where she learned about issues inmates faced reintegrating into society and first began to understand that collateral consequences are silent life sentences. Here, her passion for criminal justice grew and she knew she wanted to one day help implement reform within the system. In efforts to reduce the reliance on pre-trial detention, Awilda serves as a Resource Coordinator for the Bronx Community Solutions where she is the primary liaison between BCS and courtroom staff in arraignments.
