Carrie Miceli is a social worker for the supervised release program at Brooklyn Justice Initiatives. In this role, she works with clients arrested on misdemeanor and non-violent felony charges who would otherwise be detained on low bail pre-trial. Previously, she was a case manager for the New York City Criminal Justice Agency’s Manhattan Supervised Release Program pilot project. She has worked in various aspects of social work practice including individual clinical assessment, group work, community-based participatory research, community organizing, foster care, domestic violence and sexual violence prevention, and intervention. She has developed and facilitated programs on therapeutic writing, sexual abuse, dating violence, domestic violence, bullying, self-esteem, and LGBTQ issues in school, community, and government settings. Ms. Miceli received a B.S. in human development from Binghamton University and a master’s in social work from the Silberman School of Social Work. She is a New York State licensed social worker.
