Karen Loftin

Arraignment Specialist

Karen Loftin provides case management services to indigent defendants through the Defendant Services Program in Onondaga County, New York. Karen works with defendants on behalf of their assigned counsel attorney to link clients to services to not only assist with the current criminal charges, but to reduce overall rates of recidivism. Karen obtained her Bachelors degree from Syracuse University in Child and Family Services with a focus on Youth and Family  Development, and a minor in African American Studies. She is currently enrolled in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management pursuing her MBA. Karen has a long history of working and advocating on behalf of people living with HIV, Criminal Justice Reform, Gang Prevention, Issues that directly impact Woman of Color and Youth Development. Karen currently sits on the Consumer Advisory Board for a local Community Based Organization entitled F.A.C.E.S (Fighting AIDS through Counseling, and Education Services). Karen has a number of Published articles written in JANAC, and POZ along with providing trainings of Harm Reduction and Prevention of AIDS on a Global and National stage. Karen also is a representative for the New York State Department of Health’s “HIV STOPS WITH ME”.
