An Alternative Approach to Gun Possession
For many young New Yorkers, carrying a gun is a response to struggles with fear, lack of opportunities, and inadequate support; systems respond back with punishment that continues the cycle. The Youth PACT alternative program takes a restorative approach, connecting young people to case managers in their community and helping them strengthen their own support system by calling in their parents, families, and closest relationships.
