The Use of Sanctions and Service Adjustments in Adult Treatment Courts

Overview

Previous field research have found sanctions to influence participants’ successful completion of treatment court programs. However, given the centrality of program sanctions to the treatment court model and overall objective of reducing criminal activity among treatment court participants, the impact of sanctions on recidivism is an important relationship worthy of examination.

This study seeks to fill in gaps of data on the impact of treatment court behavior responses like sanctions, on initial outcomes and recidivism.
